I sell alot of error coins. Mostly laminations, railroad rims, broad struck, ect.

I recently put up a few and got a message from ebay because one loud mouthed jerk, called my coin a fake. Saying it had been altered by a hammer. Wow...and somehow the hammer strike did not flatten and destend the rim. And somehow the thin sections had multiple levels....you know...LIKE A LAMINATION ERROR.

And to add more insult, the idiot contacted me and crowed about how he 'caught me". AND is bidding on four of my coins!

I'm seriously thinking about canceling the auctions and putting him on my banned list.

Is it true though, that ONE complaint is all it takes to have your coin pulled? Because my auction was pulled before I even had finished putting the other ones up!

Hmmmmm, I might see if he has any auctions up and then tell ebay they are ALL fakes!!!

Id immediately block him and cancel his bids. Him contracting you to brag about it is a huge reg flag like hes either setting you up to not pay or will claim theyre fake when he gets them.

Once hes blocked I dont think he can see your listings anymore and that should solve the problem

Yet another reason why people are leaving Freebay .. I had a competitor do the same to me with old bottles saying they were fake then he listed his of the same ones and everyone who was bidding on mine went over to his .. so I have opened my own store and now I can sell anything with no one telling me off :)

It really does stink. What goes around comes around and he will get his.....I know that's not much comfort. I'd sell him as many coins as he wants as long as his money is good. He'll probably overpay :-)....I'm not really sure what I'd do, but I'm sure you'll decide wisely.

To answer the OP's question: yes, all it can take is one complaint. Especially if the complainer has made many complaints to ebay and has built up a reputation of usually being right. You can bet if someone like swamperbob or SsuperDdave files a complaint about a coin in their area of expertise, ebay is much more likely to listen and act quickly than if a random eBayer does the same.

That doesn't, of course, mean that ebay will always ignore complaints from random eBayers. They sometimes act on them; it all depends on the human which the report eventually makes its way to. ebay's complaints handling is so understaffed their responses to complaints can probably be best described as "inconsistent". Many people on this forum can probably share stories about how blatantly bogus or fraudulent listings they have reported were allowed to remain, while some of their own listings have been pulled for an accidental and relatively minor infraction of the Rules.
