You can certainly get nicer, problem free versions of this date. This one is corroded and damaged but, then again, it's 210 years old. I had a bunch of coins like this when I was younger, learning and it's all I could afford at the time. I sold them all in order to upgrade them and now I wish I had them all back.

The corrosion is fairly common but the hits on both sides are what bother me about this coin. 1804 is pretty easy to find for Half Cents. I would find a better example, IMO.

It's all a question of budget. If you can afford paying 50-100$ on a coin, you could easily find a nice example.
