Price guides, especially proofs and high grade coins are much higher than actual sale prices. I personally would not pay what you paid for it. That said, the buyer determines the price and it really is up to you to determine how badly you want it.

You did fine. They routinely sell from high 40s to 80ish with most being the in the mid 50s to mid 60s range. If you wanted to be really patient you could probably find one for a few bucks less but that price falls right in the ranges of the other completed listings.

Beautiful looking coin Ed ... I'm a novice on the modern series ... however it appears to me that you paid an appropriate amount for a coin that you desired.
Enjoy the Christmas gift to yourself.

As long as you like it that's all that matters. You got yourself a present

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. Well, I kinda collect and kinda sell. I didn't have a chance to check the completed listings on ebay, but did check recent auction sales on PCGS and NGC. It was in the ballpark, but nothing great. I've never owned a Commemorative or a PF70DCAM. So now I'm the caretaker of a perfect coin :-) Was a little disappointed that I just got beat on an earlier auction, so maybe my emotions played into this one a little. Hopefully I can get my money out of it eventually if I don't really like it 100%. Thanks again. Ed

For a PCGS PR70, you did fine. At the higher end of the scale, but still within the scale. The " unfortunate " part ( ) is , you have started down a slippery slope. You have now entered a life encompassing commitment to complete the whole series in PCGS PR70. Good hunting, keep us posted.

Most worry about paying to much if they are wanting to flip the coin. If you want it and you like it you're just fine.

I took a quick look at 11 similar coins that closed on ebay during the month of December. The highest price paid was $79.99 (+ $2.75 shipping) via a "Buy it Now" listing; the lowest was $46.00 (free shipping). Five of the 11 listings sold for between $56.75 and $59.12. The average of the 11 lots worked out to be $61.15 (including any shipping fees). So, I would say that your purchase price of $61.28 is about as close to the average price you can get! You did fine â€" enjoy the coin!
