Doesn't look like any ancient coin that I've ever seen. Looks more like an old button. Going to move this to the unidentified section.

I can give you the exact details maybe later today or tomorrow. I am building my ancient Roman coin tool box and I have a caliper on the way. But I ordered 10 uncleaned coins from ebay and this was one of the ten.

OK, so not a coin but a button. A soldier who carried these coins lost it. I think that it deserves a place of honor among your Roman coins.

I get the impression that the Roman Soldier who wore this button was burying his stash before a battle and it just popped off as he was digging.
