Wondering if anyone could tell me the variety and what rarity it may be. Thanks so much in advance.

XF-45. I wouldn't know the variety.

Regarding variety - here's my disclaimer because your pictures are too fuzzy for me to be sure. There were 49 varieties in 1827 Based on what I can see I'm going with O-107 R3. It's really more of a guess than a determination. Hopefully an expert will assist.

I'd like to take a stab at variety, if you can post better pics. They're a little blurry.

I'd grade it AU, maybe 53.

I think it' an O-108 or O-108a, might be hard to tell using all but the very best pics.

First die marriage obverse look for small dot inner arm of star 1.
First die marriage reverse look for multiple dots beneath IT of UNITED.
Second die marriage reverse look for partially filled upper portion of F.
(referenced The Ultimate Guide To Attributing Bust Half Dollars by Glenn R. Peterson, M.D.)

Either is listed as R4 in my old Overton 4th edition.

I hope I got it right.

Thanks for all your help.I will try some new photos but I am taking photos with my phone and the glare is tough. I recently got this coin back from Anacs, didn't think about getting the variety on it. They have a great reference library there and anyone is welcome to look at the books. I live only 30 minutes from their building so I think I might ask. Do you think varieties are worth putting on a slab? By the way I don't see a small dot on the inner arm of star 1 or multiple dots beneath IT in United, but I do see a partially filled upper portion of F. The coin graded XF 45. Thanks again.

I think it's worth it to have the TPG note the variety on the slab, and with R4 and higher even more so.

The partially filled F makes it an O-108a.

Nice coin. Thanks for letting us have a look at it.

It must be nice to live 30 minutes from ANACS!
