Okay, received the lot. A flood in the area threatened the post office, but luckily it wasnt badly affected and stuff remained high and dry.

16 coins. I've picked out 7 and 1 coin shard (which survives with a retrograde S and the end of [AV[G]]GG.

5 of the coins are FEL TEMPs for my barbarian collection - 1 of which is in a style I have not got represented, 1 of which is very celtic in design and 1 of which is my new smallest coin (just 6mm)

1 coin is a barbaric imitation of CONSTANTINOPOLIS.

The other coin is a very nice one - one side shows a bust of Tetricus I, the other a bust of Tetricus II - a very rare coin.

Scraps:

The new smallest coin, 6mm across, the bust is cut for this size coin but the reverse, the head of the FEL TEMP horse, seems to be for a larger issue:

Other coins, one of the FEL TEMPs in a style which is used by a tribe who marked their coins CSLG for some time:

BenByfield you may want to try saving up and buying single lot instead of this as you are collection growing?

Can you post pics of the individual coins after you`ve cleaned them a bit?

The scraps will remain uncleaned and are going into my pot of 'low grade' coins, whilst the others are sufficiently clean - coins like the 6mm one are far too small to clean effectively and a lot of UK coins just cant stand up to cleaning - I'm happy as they are and dont want to risk ruining any of them.

Jaquet, I get that a lot. Theres many reason why I buy these lots, heres a few:
1. I enjoy cleaning coins (though none of these are suitable for that)
2. These lots are the best way to receive a rarity (like the Tetricus 1&2) and learn of interesting types
3. Barbaric coins, though incredibly common, are usually poorly struck, far from centered and struck onto much smaller flans than the dies were designed for. As such, there is no market for them and they dont come onto ebay - when they do, they either get very good prices for nice examples, or they get low prices but high shipping (usually £3 for a single coin). I paid less than £1 for each of the coins I'm keeping and ended up with several of note.

I do buy coins individually, but I find it far more interesting to get them uncleaned. The only coins I buy individually are ones I dont have a chance of finding through cleaning - individual mint marks, types or coins from far off mints like Alexandria.
