I don't have a huge coin collection right now, I'm actually more of a stamp collector, but my favorite coin at the moment is a gold Mexican 50 peso piece. It came in the mail yesterday and I keep going back to look at it. At some point it's gotta go into the safe. For me, in stamps and coins my favorite is the one I most recently acquired.

Great coin. Imagine that at one time that is almost all there was in change. Every coin you pulled out was a Seated Liberty coin. Yours is really great.

I do have one favorite. My 1870 CC Seated dollar ANACS F 15. It was my dads. I am pretty sure it was his favorite as well. He got it, along with a couple other coins, from his grand mother. I am betting she pulled it from circulation back when.

Just before he passed, I sent it to ANACS to get graded. He was happy to see on official grade on it. If I am living on the street in a refrigerator box, that coin will be in my pocket. It will go to my son when I pass.

Its also a CC. Like most folks, I LOVE CC coins. And, unlike Libertad, I really like the Seated design. So, it really has everything needed to be the clear favorite.

Taking that coin out of the mix, I can not pick a particular coin.

I just wanted to say that that is one of the best looking halves I've seen. I just love the contrast from the fields to the devices!

Smokeriderdon - what a cool story! Thanks for sharing.

Nice half! And Catbert the toning on yours is stunning! The seated design and especially the A&R 1853 is probably my favorite design pre Morgans... But I do love me my Morgans, lol.

I have a half, but not the "O" mint.

Quote:
I've considered doing the entire 1853 set. Can get pricey in MS65 though.

I'm working on that as we speak, but not a traditional set.... (For the traditional I have the large cent, S3C, dime, quarter and half....) But I've since changed my mind... I'm going for all 1853 overrates or RPM's. This got started when I cherry picked this 1853/4 A&R quarter for $250, sent it for grading and it got a clean EF-45.... So definitely a great cherry pick! I'm going for all EF or up to match the quarter (it's just rediculiously priced even in EF, lol) And then I found a 1853 dime with a RPM in EF-40, messaged the seller and got it for a decent price. I also found a overrate large cent and S3C, but there not quite to the grade of my liking... So still looking. I've yet to find the other denominations with an overrate/RPM, it'll probably be a lifelong goal to complete, but fun! I'll just use regular '53's until I can replace them with overrates/RPM's, lol.

So here's those as well as a few more of my favorites... No way I can pick just one, lol. Also, my avatar is another, but since it's pictured there I won't post it below.

The first coin I ever found metal detecting- 1820 small date large cent (pics do It no justice at all)-

And dime- (not really a top "favorite" but the set will be)

And I'm also working on a 100 year before my birthday set, but this one out of them all is a fav.. Came back MS-61 but I disagree strongly, I see it as an easy 63, it'll be resubmitted sometime.

And though it's not a "monster" toner and a common date, I just love this Morgan as well-
