This coin is from a mint set I got last week. This coin is almost a dull proof with few die scratches, so matching CC photos is a problem. Mint mark looks like rpm 1, has marker die chip on the C of AMERICA, and die cracks on reverse columns seem to match; but no die scratch markers. Your thoughts?

It is 1970S-1MM-001. Are you sure that is a chip on the "C"? It looks like metal movement from what I can see. NW on the image looks like an area it may have came from? It maybe a MDS example. Another to send to coppercoins when they get cause up with the new site to see if they want to fill in that die states images. It will be sometime though, but another one to send in later on. keep your images to send to Bob later on and see what he thinks.

Coop, it is listed as a chip on CC; which I see you took the photos. The shape and location match, so I figured it was a chip: same metal flow in both coins? Could this have been a proof die? My coin is before polishing, yours after?

It is not a proof coin coming out of a mint set. Just a nice business strike coin. The die scratches match on the 9 & 7 on the coppercoins examples.

I see the scratch match now coop . I've ID'ed a pile of 1956D's rpm's not listed on CC. I have 42 of them mostly VLDS, but LDS coin's show a mostly N-S die scratch through mint mark. Anyway this is the only one that has this die chip on reverse. When they are on the wheat stalk I call them wheat buds.

The correct term is die chips.
