they sell only this brand of 2x2's here and as far as I'm aware they're made in china and so I was quite apprehensive about buying them but since I was in desperate need and I couldn't find the size I was looking for on ebay I had no choice. Is anybody familiar with its quality and whether it's safe to use with coins, especially BU's? just put all the BU coppers I have into them.

From my experience, even the best quality cardboard flips do not give complete protection from discoloration over a long time, UNLESS they are in archival quality NON PVC album pages.

Not only is it possible for coins to discolor badly, but in humid climates especially, the flips can stick to the inside of PVC album pockets.

I do not know of the brand of those mentioned in this thread, but at least they should be closely compared to known Mylar / cardboard flips.

Hopefully, the numismatic world will see a gradual phasing out of soft clear PVC album pages. For me, the sooner the better.

yes, but I was thinking about perhaps the existence of lax QC, or even a question of integrity of the manufacturers. I mean after all china is as well known for fake/substandard products as they are for cheap stuff, unless my comparing between PCCB and the likes of lighthouse, BCW, lindner etc. is another case of depending on brand name and prominence. perhaps there is a greater chance of contaminants in the material of the PCCB holders? I don't know, but I think all the coin shops here holder their ungraded coins in these 2x2's.

that issue with PVC definitely would be a cause for concern here, with the year round heat and humidity. I just had 2 uncirculated 1971 UK sets arrive and apart from having lightly adhered to the other side, the PVC material doesn't seem to have affected the coins one bit, but now I think i'll holder them for now.
I've been holdering all my coins in 2x2's and placing them in individual ziploc's having all the air pushed out, but now I'm starting to organize some of them in BCW mylar pages, but I still put these pages into ziploc's, only much bigger. you can imagine the trouble taking them out and putting back in without a proper album for these pages, and I use 2 ziploc's for them. that's the extent of my precaution taking haha.

But my BU's should be safe if I keep them stored as I do now I hope? I don't want to see all that radiant copper lustre get wasted

China may have a well earned reputation for producing cheap junk, but they can also produce highest quality goods including some very deceiving fake coins.

I am a member of a Mercedes car club.
China was the country chosen by Mercedes-Benz to produce the current 'E' class cars (except the AMG versions) to be sold into all of their World markets.

By the way, many of you may know that the ML series is produced in the United States.

wherever the money is some folk will seek it by all means I suppose.

I'm pretty sure Mercedes-Benz would have proper QC guidelines and stuff like that, unlike certain local companies that aren't exactly watched or highly regarded/recognized.

I've finally manage to locate a good source for 2x2's anyway. hurrah for that, god knows how much time I've spent in vain! I'm going with a batch of lighthouse's, so i'll probably use these PCCB's for the less important coins in my inventory now. If you knew how much in BU coppers I have coming in 2 weeks... going to need many more 2x2's
