I've been thinking about getting some intercept shield items in the future and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. Also, do they prevent toning?

Thanks!

I'm using their albums, no problems. But I've been only using them for maybe 2 years so I can't vouch for long run. But I've heard very good things and that it prevents toning etc. Its expensive too.

I use an Intercept Shield album for my Indian Head cents, can't complain. Great album overall. Price wasn't an issue for me because my trusted dealer threw a brand new one in with my 1909-S for just $20.

My only complain would be the color. They're dark green. I like the Dansco color.

Has anyone experienced any toning? I've heard that eagle dollars and proof coins are able to tone in them, is that true?

I've been using the Intercept Shield 2 x 2's for about a year now, with no toning evident... but it has been a short time. You DO have to replace them eventually, as they become used up, but I think that takes several years at least (depending on conditions). As far as I understand, the material contains elements (notably copper) to sequester toning agents (particularly H2S) before they reach the coin.

They are relatively expensive compared to most other storage methods, but based on my research they are the most effective at preventing toning. I also keep my coins in an enclosed space (a safe) with dessicant to absorb moisture.

I've only begun using them recently. I've got 3 Intercept Shield albums and have started keeping most of the rest of my coins in their 2x2s, with those going in Intercept Shield boxes. My only complaint about the IHC Intercept Shield album was that it was an extremely tight fit; I had to exert a lot of force to get many of the IHCs into the holders.

PS: Dansco albums are ugly. :p
