I think the Liberty has a great look ... I think the kids and I would enjoy getting some.

Ya think? quote: 'Liberty Dollars' Can Buy Users A Prison Term, U.S. Mint Warns By Elizabeth Williamson Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, October 10, 2006; Page A19 http://tinyurl.com/y24vpy
(snip)...The U.S. Mint acted after federal prosecutors around the country began forwarding inquiries about the coins. "We don't take these consumer alerts lightly," said spokeswoman Becky Bailey. "Merchants and banks are confronted by confused customers demanding they accept Liberty Dollars. These are not legal coin."...(snip)

I wouldn't mind paying silver value for one just to have a unique coin to add to my collection...but nothing more then that

Honestly it looks like another scam to me. No matter what it's backed by, the US government will never let it circulate.
They're pretty.. but I really do prefer coins that have been in circulation. I'd take one if given to me, but I wouldn't bother buying one for myself.

The liberty dollar is nothing more than a curiosity, not much more than a silver round with a pretty design. They do however have eye appeal. As for collecting one....No thank you.

Yes I would like one to add to my curiosity collection. Would also like the silver surfer coin but being here in Australia would have no chance of either.

ATTENTION: You 9 voters that said you wouldn't keep it if you got it for free. Just remember that I am always here for you in your time of handouts.

Parklane64.... I am well aware they are 'not legal coins' nor do I care. I am looking at these as a collector of coins, tokens, medals or whatever you want to call them. Something different to add to my collection of coins, tokens and medals.

As a coin collector, no. They're not coins. As a numismatist, sure. They're certainly numismatic, and I like collecting numismatic-related things that have been "in the news". I voted "would be interested if I didn't have to pay for it", by which I meant "not pay much above bullion value for it". Not that we're likely to see one of these for sale way down here, for any money, as BM said.

Wasn't a choice left out of the poll?
I would like one for my collection, as a curiosity, and would be willing to pay for it.
