Hi all, just wondering if this coin is counterfeit. The reverse of the 20 for 20 coin says 20 dollars yet the obverse says 5 dollars. If it is, even though they ship to Canada could I legally purchase this? http://fireauctions.policeauctions....Item=1053137*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by 2Bits 12/31/2013 3:23 pm

Hi, 2Bits First of all, it is not a "20 for 20" coin. Second of all, since the term "coin" infers legal tender, this is not a coin. Thirdly, since it's trying to look like a coin, I would say it's illegal. I can't understand why anyone would want to purchase this piece. Even if it is pure silver, it is only one gram! That is about 1/8 of the size and weight of a real "20 for 20" coin. That is one tiny chunk of silver! As I type this, the auction is at $6. For $20, you can get almost 8 times as much silver if you buy a "20 for 20" coin. Happy New Year

This site is garbage.. and this is JUNK! First this is 1 gram... second this is NOT put out by the RCM... who cares if it's .999 of silver, it's still only worth $1. Don't bother with this site... if you're interested in good quality items at a reasonable price there are much better sites out there. I love silver and gold.. but this will give you nothing but buyers remorse either immediately after you buy it... or when ever you try to sell. If you're never planning on selling the silver go and get yourself something really nice from a legitimate distributor. Good luck

yes, that looks exactly like the fake or "fantasy" coins you order through one of the Chinese sites for a couple dollars, and it is not silver. (sorry I can't post a link to site where you can get them cheapest)

The site in early fall had some real gold,,,,(Or counterfeit)...The USA old indian gold coins of I will guess 1915,,,can't recall the price-maybe 350.oo to start,,I watched the site for a while (Confiscated or recovered coins from homeowners that already got insurance money (So they can't get stuff back later)...Police hav the items for time then Auction off,,Toronto poolice for one and other departments...Well they are Crazy....with policies, with shipping, with charges, etc-,,,,I never went for it,,,,although maybe some regular buyer who lives in Toronto is perhaps getting a good deal---after he wades through a jungle first.....2 Bits I say No as well....

Thanks all for the feedback. I did notice that it said 1 gram. I really had no intention of buying this "coin" especially with $23 shipping to Canada. I was more or less wondering if there was a coin that appeared to be counterfeit if it would be legal for me to purchase it or would it even be legal for someone to sell it.

As per mine understand, 2Bits actually interested to buy it as "fake" example.
But, it is too small to be interesting item, even not a round, just flake of silver.

It's the case where you get what you pay for.

I don't think it's made of pure silver. Buy it if you want a "UNIQUE" item for your collection.

simply put a coin with the queens image and Canada any denominations is a counterfeit coin.

Funniest fake ever: $20 on one side, $5 on the other.
Fairly accurate in terms of silver content though...
