Pretty sure the bullion 2014s are out already which is what those were.
That said, if you want a modern 70 send it to ANACS

"Wow" pretty much sums it up.
Some time ago, there was an episode of South Park that did a parody of the coin/PM-selling branch of HSN. The writers had obviously worked hard at creating a biting, acidic satire but the episode was still so close to the reality of the HSN show that their parody was more realistic than funny.

16,000 plus Eagles, he doesn't even possess in 6 hrs.
Now this isn't a pointed slam at ANACS and I know he pays them hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in grading fees, but ..... How can you work a deal with a dealer, print up slabs labeled 2014 MS70, Limited Edition, First Day of Issue, # of 16,589, Put a 2013 Silver Eagle in this slab for them for show (deceive ?) purposes and allow him to use your name and reputation to pre sell coins you haven't even graded yet or have even seen yet. ANACS is seemingly guaranteeing him 16,589 MS70's What if he sends them 40,000 Eagles when they come out and only 16,000 of them grade at 70. Do they tell him he needs to buy and send in a few more Monster Boxes. Or do they send the 69's back to their staff and tell them Mike needs 589 more 70's. How does a company uphold the appearance of trust and objectivity when they make deals like this ?

They don't.
Which is why, right or wrong, ANACS slabbed coins may as well be ungraded in my not so humble opinion.

Whether they publicly admit it or not they mint ahead of time. They arent starting on the Civil Rights Dollars on January 2nd when thats their release date just like they didnt take most of december off when they finished with last years coins. The 20+ million bullion ASEs dont get started January 1st when the mint is already doing significantly more circulating coinage than normal.

Remember the mint produced 1964 nickels for 2-3 years, that is why the 64 is so common it's the Government they made the law they can change it, or break it and not tell anyone. At one time any coin larger than a dime was required to have an eagle on the back... how many eagles are on the State and ATB Quarters? laws change easily, and dates on dies do too.

First Strike, Early Releases, Limited #_____ of _______, fancy labels
All are nothing more than gimmicks to sell inflated material to the uniformed.
I can buy a 2014 Silver Eagle from Provident for about $24 plus shipping. Sorry HSN your prices are too jacked up for me to even consider.

The reason for massive mintings was due to the removal of silver. But...I'm fairly certain that US coins cannot be dated later than that of the Calendar year. Just since a coin's "release date" is January 2nd, doesn't mean that any have been produced by then. When is the estimated shipping time on those January orders? Also what needs to be remembered is that even if mintings don't occur until the calendar year, the mint can have dies and blanks prepared to begin mass mintings right away.

I think those dates are the dates that the mint starts taking orders. The mint sent a directive to their AP's that they will start accepting "orders" for 2014 ASE's Jan. 13. I am pretty sure that Jan. 2 is an order date, not a delivery date. Since HSN is not an AP, an AP will have to order these. The mint will have to deliver them, they will then have to send them to ANACS, to be rubber stamped with MS70 and slabbed. Will then have to deliver them back to HSN who will then have to process the 16,000+ orders. Put the slabs in their "special red oak presentation box " and send them out. Hope these people are patient.

Quote: Since HSN is not an AP, an AP will have to order these. Not necessarily. When you buy at the HSN level or the level that show host does you get special treatment. Either way they without a doubt had 2014 stuff already made ready to go before January 1st. Last year for circulation coins they struck almost 12 billion. Theres about 8765 hours in a year. Philly and Denver would have to be combining for over 1 million coins an hour running the pressed 24/7 to meet that demand and we all know they arent striking circulating coins by the end of the year so they would actually have to be doing more than that. They arent firing up the presses for the first time for 2014 stuff on January 2nd.
