Coins actually marked COPY are still forbidden on ebay because they are "replica coins".
However, I am not too concerned about them as they would fool no one into thinking they were authentic.
One problem is that some sellers digitally add the copy to their images but ship counterfeit "replicas".
From an ebay listing image, you may or may not be able to tell if the COPY is actually on the coin or if it has been digitally added (Photoshopped).

The referenced 1933 "COPY" Saint was flagged and reported to ebay 2x in the last 2 weeks and eBays bots, AI and CS said "the item was carefully reviewed and did not violate policy" both times.

So much for ebay's "policy police" department!

I bet if you added it to your Watchlist, the seller would offer you a 5% discount.

I did, but the Seller never sent me an offer! So disappointed!

Because of this thread, I found many interesting listings on ebay:
1878CC BU and 1884S hi grade Morgans quantity 20 with same picture for buy it now for about $30, hundreds of "rare errors" no mint mark Lincoln pennies for $50-$400 and others. Many of the sellers of this stuff have excellent feedback.

Oh yes, you will - especially if you go out and look for them.

Bear with me, it's early morning here... Why not form an ebay Coin Authenticity Tribunal? The tribunal--perhaps 7 or 9 members--would review each and every proposed (proposed...) listing for authenticity/accuracy. Only when the tribunal unanimously approves a listing would it be posted. The tribunal would also toss any legit listing it feels is outrageously overpriced. The tribunal would have 21 days to adjudicate each proposed listing. The tribunal would have the authority to permanently ban sellers who fail more than two proposed listing evaluations. This way, bidders/buyers could be assured that what they see is 100% legit and 'appropriately' priced--no risk. Sounds cool. Wonder what all this would cost in $$, hassle, indignation, etc.?

Anyway, just being snarky on a Saturday morn...

Such a tribunal would last a little while, then face pushback by well-heeled sellers and ebay would cave and disband the tribunal.

It has already happened more than once in the past when "too many" listings were removed and "too many" sellers sanctioned.
