The way you are asking makes me think you disagree with their assessment... I'll go MS-47

EDIT: The original question was what do WE think PCGS graded it as, I am seeing 55+ IMHO, but my guess for the PCGS number is still 47

a slan, I don't necessarily disagree with their assessment, I honestly don't know this series well at all, not sure what you meant by MS-47?

I just put MS by mistake, I understand the grading system but don't use it a lot

for me it's more like:

gunky
nasty
nice
nicer
hey that's good
and WOW HOLY *^*&%(%**^(!!!

It seemed by the way you were asking you did not agree with their grading, I guess I just read too much into it.

so one a scale of 0-70 I'd still be in the 47-55 range, maybe I'm being harsh, and images can be misleading, it doesn't show much wear and it's not silver but to break much over 55 I'd have to see much more luster. Again just my opinion.

After checking my German Empire coins I'm getting interested in this post more and more.

1906, 10 Pfennig a little worse than yours,

1908 and 1909, 5 Pfennig that is comparable to yours, and an 1884 10 Para from Serbia only slightly more worn than yours (OK not German empire at the time but it's got the same eagle and it a quarter of a century older)

I'm hoping to catch a few ZZZ's soon but I hope you won't leave us hanging for too long, I'll be checking in the morning.

Quite a range of guesses, PCGS graded as MS63, Coin actually has great luster that wasn't captured in the PCGS photo, I'll grab one of the coin in the holder whenever it actually arrives, I actually thought it was a 64/65 when I sent it but they were pretty strict on all of my coins in this batch...

nice one

OK so mine are rather dingy and I understand about actual luster Vs. Image.

mine are both dim but not worn... so maybe mine are the ones in the 47-55 range or even lower

Thanks for the post it was a fun game!
