Pics are a bit extreme but it looks like it was chemically eroded It would have been more helpful to see the whole coin in one pic (obv/rev) ..almost forget  Edited by Foxwoods Man

I have to admit those are some nice close-ups, and I agree with "Foxwoods Man" erosion of some kind, and full Obverse and Reverse images would be nice.

considering the apparent quality of it I'd say you did a good job with the full images and I still have to give a  to the closer ones, it takes me dozens of snaps to get one that is decent. |

I was thinking chemical erosion myself. Can you get an accurate weight? Size right?

Weight is around 4 grams on my Dymo scale. The rim of the quarter is smooth which had me curious among other things.
