Thanks.... yes that would have been bad. I do, however, know there is lots of room for improvement. Will continue trying to get better for sure...

Clarity is awesome! Do the pictures and coin have the same color? The coin looks a little red. nlp

The reverse and obverse pics are very close to correct, the macro shot is not correct and I probably needed to readjust for that pic. That is what I mean by experimenting to learn. I've got a lot to learn yet with the strobes.

Nice Shots, I would like to see a picture of the set-up, like noah had mentioned.
I think the full coin images are slightly out of focus.

Those look great to me!! I too would like to see the set-up. It seems that getting the color right is tricky with just about any set-up. Mine are still way off on most pics.

All I'm seeing to complain about is a little loss of contrast, which I think you'll get back during your lighting experimentation. Oh, and srs77: http://www.pktether.com/

A functional remote shooting setup via computer tether will forever spoil you.
Careful with that software - I note it's in beta and hasn't been updated in quite a while.

I noticed that too. I took my little windows netbook into my studio (I'm a mac guy but do have windows pcs) and I downloaded it and installed it. I'll give it a try to see how it works.

For those who were interested these are some pics of my setup. Mind you I'm in a 12x12 bedroom for my little studio and really need more space. That's coming in the near future. I'll give a little explanation after each picture, they're fairly large so be patient with the load.... Also, please note, from the quality of these pics you'll see why I NEVER use my iphone for photography. This is my Pentax K5. Love this camera from it's weather proofed frame to it's built in anti-vibration system which allows any lens that fits on it to be vibration free... The Elinchrom D-Lite RX4 (light number 1) The Elinchrom D-Lite RX4 (light number 2) A shot of both lights with the camera in the middle. The back of one of the lights with it's controls. Still learning lots here. This is the awesome Tamrom 90mm 1:1 Macro Lens. Phenomenal glass and an incredible macro lens. The Elinchrom EL-Skyport trigger. This is what fires the flash heads in unison or otherwise. No wires folks and the skyport along with the receivers which are built into the light heads come with the package. I've been using this inexpensive light tent for years now. It's about to be replaced as with the softboxes on the lights I no longer actually shoot through the diffusion sides of the tent. In the old continuous lighting days that's how I did it but no longer. It's being replaced with a shooting table already on order... The Vanguard Alt Pro 284CT tripod. Weighing in at about 2 pounds this light weight carbon fiber tripod has gone with me from home to Vegas, to Arizona and beyond. So light it's easy peasy to carry around... Hope this helps a little, feel free to ask any questions as I'm more than happy to try to answer them. Once the shooting table appears I'll give it a go around and a review with some pics for you as well.

Nice set up One built in advantage is nearing an empty nester status.. The bedroom was my sons who no longer stays here. One upside is she has a built in photographer for special events and what not. Another is that I agree to take it down when we have company staying over. (yes a pain but worth it) Lastly, she's a good sport. 35 years together goes a long way there Eventually it's going to get moved to a dedicated (larger) room where I can do much more but that's coming in time.
