Wife got handed this coin as change at the store. I've never seen one but it appears to be solid silver or at least silver-esque metal. Thanks in advance

That's not silver, just silver color and as previously mentioned from Thailand of the "Baht" denomination. fairly recent too. By the Thailand coins I wown (I own many coins of this exact type); this coin is post-1990.

I am fairly sure the date is AD 1982. That design for the reverse was used 1982-1985. A different design was used starting in 1986.

The date is indeed 2525, which converts to AD 1982.
