hi,

today I was organizing my coinscollection while I found this note.

3-Dollar-Note

There's nothing printed on the back.
Could someone tell me some more about this note?

Thanks.

Hello welcome to the forum, I can not tell for sure but I believe it a copy or even a fantasy piece. It is an old copy though. now you have to have the word "copy" printed on the notes. it appears to have the yellow parchment looking paper

It certainly feels parchment-like.

Unfortunately, your note a modern reproduction printed on antiqued parchment. The differences are too numerous to point out individually, but here's a genuine $1.00 with similar features to compare to your $3.00 note above. So far, every parchment note I've seen looks photocopied and lacking in details. In the image below, pay close attention to the decorative areas around the corner numbers and the ink used for the signatures, date, and serial number.

I checked my currency book for issues from the Bull's Head Bank in New York City and there weren't any. I then started looking on the internet and I found a list of modern copies. Sorry your note wasn't genuine.

If I remember correctly, during the 1970's there was a product you could get those in. I seem to remember my mother giving me something like that when I was young.

UPDATE: I asked my mother and she said these bills came in loaves of bread around 1976 as promotions for the bicentenial. She couldn't remember which brand.

Someone once thought they were giving me a great gift with one of these, they paid something like $50 for it, and it was worth all of about 25ยข as a fake.
