MS 64

MS 65

The quality difference looks inconsistent for one grade point
Is the MS 64 really lower or the MS 65 really higher
I think the MS 65 is really higher
Rest in Peace

I think their both graded to high. I can't see a 64 being that beat up. The 65 grade grade seems generous to me as well. A true gem 65 is a pretty nice looking coin. Mike

For what the MS 64 is concerned that is a very generous grade
My friend said maybe 63 maybe 62
We both think the 65 is correct weak hair strike and all

I have to say that I agree with Mike. The 65 has 3 pretty deep hits on the obverse that I think should hold it at MS63, possibly MS64 since the reverse is so clean, especially since one of them is in the design.

Don't get me wrong - they're both beautiful coins.

Well the dings are not really distracting since they have the same color as the surrounding surface
I really had two remarks
The coins are only one point apart which looks weird
And I would not want to own the MS64 but I sure would like to own the MS 65
I guess with grade on these two I own a 64.5

The 64 looks like a typical 62, pretty well bag marked. the 65 looks like a 63. 3 significant hits in the neck/cheek. It looks like it was overgraded because of the relatively clean fields and reverse. I don`t like to make excuses for gold being a soft metal.

Agree completely on boths counts
But this again demonstrates one has to learn to grade
because graded coins have different eye appeal
I like the coins I buy raw and with all custom probles I would have
I am not going to have coins slabbed unless they start slabbing them somewhere in the euro union ( no customs problems )
