Does anyone hold off from listing during the week a major coin show is running (like next week during the FUN show)? Or does it have no effect on sales?

I am wondering the same thing...Maybe when it comes to the high end stuff, sellers will hold off a week or so.
As a buyer, maybe it's a good time to scan ebay for great deals since many buyers will have their eyes on FUN.

Maybe a good time to look for the same coins on ebay as they are selling at FUN.

And then there are the crack out artists, the detail coins they buy at FUN should hit ebay quite soon after that as raw.

Yes.. the reason I'm wondering is I had a bunch scheduled to start Sunday, but the show runs next week through Sunday so most of the week could be lost for potential bids. I just didn't know how much impact the shows actually have on online sales. Not sure I'm willing to take the chance.

I don't see any reason to hold back particularly if you're listing lower-end coins.
The big shows only get a few thousand buyers.
PLENTY more around that can't make it to the shows.
And a case could be made that the big shows are like advertising and get other collectors to look around online.

BUT IMO a down-side is that the TPG's get swamped by submissions so getting coins slabbed during and shortly after big shows could take longer.

I agree with kanga. Unless you are in the realm of being charged listing fees; LIST. Like he said, for every hundred people at FUN, there are tens of THOUSANDS of collectors who won't be there. If you don't sell you can always relist later, but if you don't list you might miss a possible sale.

My greatest-ever auction score was from a Heritage online-only auction during FUN week. Nobody was bidding.

Honestly, I'm thinking ebay would be less affected, but I'e always played it safe and not ended auctions near holidays. Just never went there.

I have had pretty good luck selling during the weeks of big shows and auctions. It seems like people's coin purchasing juices may be flowing enough to get them looking at ebay too. Just my experience.
