I was rolling spare change and found this coin. It looks like 1970 lincoln memorial die cap error. I do not know anything about coin errors beyond my research on this coin so I wanted other opinions. Also if it is a legit coin error what is the average sell price for this type of coin.  |

Sorry but this is just a damaged coin and is not an error.

 Post Mint.I won't call it PMD as I don't think of it as damaged,just a neat conversation piece. I also have one of these,just reversed with the memorial inside the bowl, it is counterstamped with what I think is a masonic lodge emblem.  regards coffeecup57 |

Think about the geometry - if the coin had fit OVER the die, then then entire die impression would be on the FLAT part and most of the rounded part is just bare metal.

I really can't understand how anything like that can make it out of the mint. I have seen them at coin shows but never thought to ask how they were found, I am assuming in mint bags? They are definitely cool.
