It would help more if you could post sharper and/or more close-up pics.
Click on the "Reply to Topic" link and a new page & menu should open up. You can post additional pics here.

Without better pictures there is really no reason to speculate. But if I was to speculate I would say deteriorated die...I think the one coin looking bigger is a illusion due to camera angle.

Jay as the person with the coin and with respect I'm here for answers not camra tricks. Its the best photo I could get for now. However the coins letters are larger and the date number 2 is smaller. For the other defects or errors I listed pkease refer to the first page and photo. What I've been tryingto figure out is because I can see it and I wish you could is it something odd enough to have authenticated? Thank you again everyone helping and there input.
Rest in Peace

eagleeye4coins, I know how hard it is to get decent photos of coins. I find it maddening at times.

Anyway -- I'm beginning to wonder if the whole coin somehow got squashed. Somehow the "2" managed to avoid the tremendous weight necessary for this.....

It is possible that the correct planchet was used but that particular planchet wasn't quite right.

Anyway, hang onto it.

As for getting it authenticated....I'm not sure what you mean. If you're thinking about sending it to ANAC of PCGS, my advice is to save your money.

The only other thing I can think to suggest is for you to search error-ref.com or Ken Potter's Variety site. You can contact experts from those sites and they might have more information.

I have a 1943 Liberty quarter dollar coin, I am very new to this coin stuff, don't know much about it. It appears to have some errors in its front side and hope you can tell me what is the value of this coin

That is fine and dandy but if they cannot tell you precisely what kind of error it is, their opinion and a $1 bill will get you a cup of coffee. I have learned over the years that the vast majority of people that call something an error are simply guessing because they do not understand the minting process and how errors are created. There is only one master design for each State Quarter so a difference in device size is simply not possible. Any perceived variation could be explained by die state, circulation wear, or damage but it is almost impossible to state a cause without large clear pictures.
