Quote:If what I am reading is correct. The
Close AM was the proof reverse until 1998 then it was changed 98-2000 as the
Wide AM?
No. Through 1992 the proofs used a
Wide AM reverse In 1993 the proofs used a
Close AM. From 1994 through 2008 the proofs used a
Wide AM reverse.
In 1998, 99, and 2000 at least one reverse die hubbed with the
Wide AM proof die hub was accidentally used to produce business strikes. Also in at least 1998 at least one rev die hubbed with the
Close AM business strike hub was polished and used to strike proof
Close AM cents. I am not sure if
Close AM proofs were made in 99 or 2000.
In late 1992 when the mint was preparing dies for both 1992 and 1993, at least one rev die hubbed with the 1993
Close AM hub was used to strike 1992 cents at Philadelpha and one struck cents at Denver.
