2012 Proof Set, Why So High $

My grandson was born in 2012 and I was thinking of getting a proof set for his birth year. I see them trending $80 for clad. Why so high? I usually wait a few years and buy them below list price, but not sure that will be the case here.

Their sales were cut short with no notice giving them a lower mintage than usual. The sales being cut off and the lower mintage increased demand as well. The price has been coming down though from where it was when it was first cut off so you may be able to get it cheaper in the future but it will probably always have some premium.

This happened with pretty much all the 2012 products too

Low mintage and they ran out before the holidays so many people who waited didn't get them
