I am planning on getting a membership to either PCGS or NGC soon and have a couple questions about redeeming the vouchers. Both TPG's will be at an upcoming show in my area. To save money on shipping I would like to make the submissions at the show. Has anyone here done this before? To go one step further, PCGS is doing onsite grading. Is it possible to "upgrade" the free voucher to onsite by paying the difference? Once I decide which one I'll double check with them, just looking for info, thanks.

PCGS has made some changes for the new year and havent completely updated everything yet, they might let you upgrade it but I dont believe you can use it for a show. Regular or regular secure plus is supposed to be the fastest tier you can use for the vouchers which is about half the show fee price. You shouldnt have any problem submitting it through the show though.

If you go with pcgs the best deal is the 8 vouchers for 199. Secure plus regular service is over a 100 dollar savings plus you save the 50 dollar membership fee. You could use the standard as well and still save but since you can use them on secure plus you might as well and get the free imagining that comes with it.

Thanks for the reply. I figured the show upgrade wasn't likely, just wanted to see if anyone else may have tried it. The show isn't until April so I have some time to figure it out. The important thing to me is saving on the shipping (there) by being able to use the vouchers at the show.

Don't forget you still pay for return shipping/insurance. If you only have a few coins to submit, and/or only submit moderns, you might consider a basic membership for $49.

right BH1964, talking about saving on the cost of the initial shipment
unfortunately basic membership not going to cut it, have at least a dozen right off the bat (Morgan, Peace, Commem. Halves, Standing Liberty Qtrs., etc)

Probably best to ask but I would think you could probably submit them at a show, but only as a regular submission meaning they will take them back to the office for grading not grading AT the show. Would still save on shipping. (As far as I know a regular "take back to the office and grade it later" submission does not cost more at a show, so why not take the vouchers?)

I just did this: Brought my raw coins and voucher to FUN, and did the submission at the NGC table. NGC brought the coins back with them for grading, which saved me the shipping cost to NGC. In fact, I just got email saying my submission was received by NGC.

The NGC coupon is good only for Early Bird or Regular World, and cannot be upgraded.
