While not being too familiar with the U.S. currency I came across this one quarter that seemed a bit off compared to the rest I have. Any input would be appreciated as I'm not sure if it's a mint issue or exposure to the elements. My apologies for the picture quality.

Hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like it's either plated in gold or colored--people love to color on coins with markers and the like.

Either way, it's certainly post mint damage and doesn't add to the value.

To me it just looks toned, copper nickel coins will actually turn brown after many years in circulation, unlike pure nickel or plated steel in Canadian coins.

That's a Rhode Island quarter not West Virginia. Did you post the wrong picture?
