Well, I don't get where the bargain is. It's .65 now, so isn't that a savings of a whopping .02 per letter up to 30g!?

I thought it was supposed to be .63 until the end of March, at which time the rate will jump to $1 per letter!?!?

Now, if we could buy p's for .63 until the end of the March, that would be a reduced rate, IMO... but apparently p's have been pulled off the shelves?!?

The price is still cheap as ever to send a small package across the globe. The fact that the price almost doubled is what people find disturbing, especially when the normal rate climbed 2-3 cents per year. It's like when phone calls went from being 25 cents to 50 cents. Still super cheap but it's the initial shock of paying double for the same service.

(this thread is kind of off topic isn't it? )

In old movies when they said 'Drop a Dime' they meant to call the police with a dime in a phone booth... now everyone has cellphones. Getting a paper letter that is not a bill or a corporate ad hardly happens now, it's almost impossible to exist now with out an e-mail address, and most of that is junk anyway.

The 'Forever Stamps' in USA are kind of a joke, you buy them now then use them before they raise the price, then have to buy the next set at the higher rate.

If I understood Canada Post has reduced the price to it's previous price only for 3 months, so from April the new price will be $1 right?

I think the single stamp price will be $1.
But going forward, the multiple pre-purchase is 85 cents per.

I believe the US just raised theirs to 49 cents. But, there you have 9x as many people pushing lettermail over the same approx. distances.
