Sad-Plated-IHC

I found this in a drawer in some used office furniture I bought a while back. Too bad someone plated a pretty decent IHC.

If the mint were to make an early 20th century $1 gold coin bearing a native american on it, this is what it would look like.

It does look nice. Is there any way to get the gold off?

I have a couple of IHC like this. Don't why someone would do this. Unless for just a pocket carrier.

To me, it looks nice but would look better in original condition.

It's a common date, and you'll never get the gold off without destroying the coin.
It looks like a rather heavy plating job?

More than likely not Gold. Many people replate Copper coins with Copper or Brass. If really has a great shine, usually Brass. Some do it for fun and some attempting to make it look new for sale. Lots of kids do this in Chem classes for fun.
And I too like this one.

I have a small collection of plated coins from around the World. I will buy them if I can get them 'on the cheap'.

They can be of some supporting educative assistance in the identification of 'real' fake coins.

Just wondering, what are the chances it is a gold cent and not plated? Wouldn't that be COOL!

That's about right for a plated IHC.
