i recently started collecting silver eagles after finding myself bored with my pamp suisse silver bars. I'm incredibly OCD when it comes to collecting things and was curious if there was a complete checklist for every PCGS, NGC or proof set. while searching ebay today I had found brown labels, blue labels, star labels and etc for NGC graded coins and it seems a bit overwhelming to try and figure out how many variations there are for any given year. is there a list out there somewhere or do I need to start scouring ebay to make one myself?

Different labels are not different variations. They are just different labels on the same coin. Different labels are made by the grading companies, the way car companies make the same car in different colors.Car collectors collect different types of cars, not the same car in different colors.

ASE's in bullion form were made from 1986-2014, ASE Proofs were made from 1986-2014, except 2009 when there was a planchet shortage. The burnished ASE W mint marked were made in 2006-2008 and again in 2011-2014.

In addition a special 1995 W mint marked proof was made as part of the gold Eagle fractional set in 1995, A three coin set of bullion, proof and the first reverse proof, was made in 2006, A five coin set of bullion, S mint marked bullion, proof , Burnished and reverse proof was made in 2011, An S mint marked proof and reverse proof set was made in 2012 and a W mint marked reverse proof and enhanced proof set was made in 2013.

Those are all the actual varieties. But I know what you are saying about the OCD, I satisfy my OCD by collecting all myu Eagles in the same holders. NGC Brown Label MS69 set. And a raw set in a Dansco album

By trying to collect all the labels, you become just the kind of customer they're looking for - one who collects worthless packaging over valuable content.

On the bright side, collecting only the minted differences breaks loose a bunch of bucks to buy more coins. And don't forget, the appropriate quantity of coins in your collection is always N+1.

Dave, that's what I fear! I was extremely OCD when I was collecting punk records and would spend all of my time and money trying to find every variation/color. N + 1 gets expensive really quick!

Was the bullion coin in that set mintmarked? I don't think so. I don't believe the burnished pieces was an S mintmark either. I think it was still a W.
