Good evening all, I would first like to say hello to those who frequent this board as I haven't posted here before so it's nice to meet you and second I would appreciate your Assistance identifying the following paper currency. I have a few questions...
1. It is quite possibly Russian and if this is true, will I be able to exchange it for usd?
2.If not, is there a market for these notes?

Regards.

These bills are Russian but they have been demonetized due to inflation. I'm not sure of market value.

The 100, 200 and 500 are one or two dollars in UNC, less than a dollar otherwise.
The 1,000 is about eight dollars in UNC and a dollar or less otherwise.

I should get one of these 200 bills myself. They look lovely.
On second thought, maybe if I could get a lot of low-grade bills of this (i.e. 1993) series reasonably cheaply I could use them to perk up our Monopoly bank - it's always running out of money

The Russian rouble was revalued in 1998, at a rate of 1000:1. So theoretically, your 1000 rouble note has a face value of 1 new rouble, which converts at current market rates to almost 3 US cents. However, they were demonetized and withdrawn in 2002 - I do not think there is anywhere in Russia you can take them now to get "face value" for them. They are collectables only.

And as collectables, I'm afraid they're not worth very much. The old Soviet-era notes have some sentimental value for some folks, but not these notes.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thank you all for contributing your knowledge! You were more helpful than the preoccupied with text message typical mid 20's young lady working at the currency exchange in the mall!
