Last week I saw this lens for sale on German ebay. On the off chance I put in a snipe bid for an amount I was prepared to pay and I got it. It s one of the last versions and some say better version. I had a quick try out. Both photos were taken at F9.5 using axial lighting. Now I had already found that for photographing my main interest, thalers, a 1:2 Magnification(half size) was working well. I only use full size for much smaller coins. So for the first picture I used the 1-1 adapter ( that came with the lens)

For the next the 1-1 adapter was taken off. I think the focus was a little out and I may have made an error in editing....but I already think this lens is a great addition to my tool box:

I think this lens is useful to Micro 3/4s, Sony E mount and Leica M users. That said as it only cost US$170.00 I think it was a great buy!

I think you've found a nice lens, now you need to work on lighting...

The 1955 3d pic is very nice. The coin took well to axial lighting. I assume this is the 100mm Macro with focusing helicoid? I have examples of the newer and older 100mm bellows, and I think they are all the same lens formula that was a collaboration with Leica.

Its the lens with the focusing Helicoid. I have the bellows lens as well but this new toy is better....and I can take it out of the house (LOL). The advantage it has over the MD 50mm macro is the longer lens to subject distance.

Actually I am not sure what you mean here. both coins are true to life in color. The only thing with the thaler is the coins luster its not so evident( that coin is toned the way it is pictured). I think the luster not being shown is a caused by the axial lighting.

I was assuming that the lighter spot left of the "3" was a highlight, not cleaning. On the other, the shield is so much brighter than the field around 5-6 o'clock and I thought the shiny spot on the rightside beast's leg was another highlight.
