Im not a huge expert in wheat pennies to be quite honest, so I'm asking for advice I have inherited from my grandfather about 10 rolls of wheat pennies only problem is I'm not 100% into them so id like to search through them and find some that are worth some money so I can fund my search for a huge lot of V nickels so my question is what years and or mint marks should I be looking for?

I'm into War Nickels mostly but the key to dates on Buffalo nickels is if they actually HAVE a date.

My confirmed dates on buffalo's are 1916, 1920, 1923, 1925, 1935, 1936 and a bunch with the dates worn off. They are mostly from CRH thou.

http://www.coincommunity.com/us_nic.../buffalo.asp is a nice source for production numbers.

I will give you some good advice being that I had a similar dilemma a few years back. Thankfully I never seem to get rid of anything. I am an avid Liberty nickel fan so I understand your eagerness lol! Look at every coin. I have several Wheat penny die varieties that are unlisted ( which I'll get to sometime this year :-0) but the point is if I had just been looking for 1917, 22 without D, 09 vdb, and so on and so forth I wouldn't have seen the 1951/0 or 1941/3 repunched date, the list continues but the msg stays the same. Have fun and break out the owl eye :-)

For those of you who like Barber/Liberty/"V" nickels this topic
is chock full of nice pictures.

First, divide the Lincolns into to groups: pre-1934 and 1934 onwards.
The key dates are in the first group. Search the second group for oddities.
