Hello all, I believe that the devices pictured here have notching, and a tootsie roll shape, you be the judge, and also see the two "E"s pictured from the shield, they look to have some notching as well. Also these examples look nothing like the designers initials of the other 400+ 2012s I have looked at this morning.

This one looks like a keeper. Did you check coppercoins.com for a match yet?

Not yet but I will, thanks for the conformation, and I will work on matching up some die markers.

The only DDR I found that Bob posted was this one, 2012P-1DR-001, and the die does not seem to match, do you see any more on the site than this one? Also, the reverse of mine has a large die chip at the top left corner of the shield.

Update on this one. I am so excited to report that this coin is my second discovery. John Wexler Attributed the coin and will feature it in his monthly column "Varieties Notebook" most likely in the July issue of Coin World. 2012 1ยข WDDR-002, http://doubleddie.com/667434.html

Without the Coin Community Family, I would still know nothing about varieties, so I thank all of you for your help with my learning process, and I still have much more to learn but it feels like I am getting somewhere with all of this now. Cheers!

Have you found any other examples of this die in your area? I am always interested in the areas where these new sheilds DD are being dumped. I know they certainly travel. But I have found multiple 2012-1DO-003 in my area and am pretty certain they were shipped to bank near to me (Rochester, NY). Though I never got full boxes with this die scattered throughout.

And Congrats!

I had the shied cents in a bag for a year before I went through them because I do not see that many in circulation right now and it is hard on the eyes going from shinny new shield cents, back to circulated coins. I found three of these together in one circulated roll, this one is in the best shape.

I buy them off of family and friends, so they do not need to take rolls to the banks. One of them just got these in change I guess.
