I see scratch marks and stuff but I don't believe it's been cleaned and and for grade xf-40

Not whizzed, but it does look cleaned (lightly to moderately wiped).
It may however pass at ICCS for grading but in my opinion would be 'bodybagged' at PCGS.

VF30 Likely cleaned.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

thank you I've seen the word baggy on some threads before, used for describing coins. is there a thread or reference anywhere. that will enable me to learn the correct definition of baggy or body-bagged regards

Not that many years ago coins left the mint in bags. Coins would jostle against each other in the bags and suffer scuffs and dings. Mintstate coins with an excess of these types of marks are described as "baggy".

thank you DBM when I purchased this coin it was on the strength of Charltons 2002 edition. this specimen may have crack from the A towards the crown also. could I beg an opinion http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...ts-1870-1901without closer examination of the coin best
