Looks like some bad PVC damage, needs an acetone bath.

This one's driving me crazy (not that it's a long journey). I think it's Obverse 3 based on the scallop on the inner point of star 13, except the outer point of that star isn't in the right place. And there should be lumps on the inner points of most of the other stars, but I don't see them. Obverse 5 has a similar scallop, but the date is all wrong.

However, I kind of like Reverse B for this one - the rotations of the E and M are distinctive - so we'll call it O-103 for the moment. Until I change my mind.

I have it at VF20.

Dave, Are you using a book, or is there a website kind of like VAMworld for these?

I have the Third Edition Overton for attribution (the 4th Edition is too screwy), in conjunction with the Heritage Auction Archives for large images to help confirm details.

To my eye it looks like, at the very least, it can't be O-103 as the right edges of the I and T are in line while the specimen at hand the I is to the left. To me this looks like reverse G which matches up with the analysis that this could be obverse 5 under O-109. But, I am still new at this so this is just a guess flipping through Overton.

My initial guess is also O-109/R-4. IMO, the I-T relationship is appears to line up with this Overton...

I didn't really see a closed "U" in the OP's coin, but for that matter I don't see it in many Heritage examples either. In my own defense, I was doing my best to emulate a military sleep-deprivation experiment last night. Today, O-109 looks a lot better to me.

Edit: Sometimes I hate our autocorrection software.

Thank you for the info Dave. I will remember to look for one of those Overton books when I get around to buying some books. Heritage is an excellent resource for identifying coins and I always seem to forget about them.
