Hello all, I am just trying to work out what Freeman number die pairing this 1874 H penny is. Does anyone here know exactly? There are 4 windows on the lighthouse, 4 lines in lightbulb part of tower, the sea DOES cross the exergue circle and on the obverse the hair strands appear to be closer to the back of Victoria's head. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
I concur, F-71. Examples exist (though not of this date, to my knowledge) where numbers have been scratched onto the field by The Royal Mint. In this case the lettering looks like 'Anne', so is presumably a form of love token.
