Looking for some help with the Newcomb variety for this one. Even looking over a reference on the varieties for this year I am stumped . Consider it a challenge!

I believe I have narrowed down the varieties based upon the obverse as N8, N21 or N33.

I don't think I can go much farther than that without a real reference or having an expert take a look. Maybe this will make it easier if someone is up for the task!

Buy Grellmans reference book if you are going to continue collecting LC's. It's only $100.

It's a great reference book, I still have problems trying to attribute the Late Dates when they are under EF45 grade. Has anyone seen the latest Noyes late date books? "United States Large Cents. 1816-1857," Volumes 5 & 6? The photos are in color, and printed very well I hear. Downside they are expensive - $235.00 from Charles Davis Numismatic books.

For Late date cents those are the only real two books in the game now. For middle dates I still prefer John D. Wright's "The Cent Book" it's an amazing reference, a tour de force if you will. Worth every penny.

I'll refrain from even guessing, as I've been wrong on my last two attempts of attributing large cents, I've got a lot to learn in this field.

Grellman's book is on my list, the late date large cents are probably my favorite to collect. Just don't have that book yet.
