Congratulations. I once came into about fifteen rolls of silver quarters that came off the Brinks truck for the cash delivery at my brothers store. All circulated Canadian from 1937 and up. Nothing outstanding, but the joy of going through them more than made up for it.

Great news! I got a cigar box this evening...

Hoard-Coming-My-Way...1/2-I-Got-Went-Through!

Drum roll, Please! Opening it!

Hoard-Coming-My-Way...1/2-I-Got-Went-Through!

My Mother-in-law said they are all silver...I am encouraged by what I am seeing in the box loose! My father-in-law has the other half of this hoard...I am trying to coax him out of it. I'll go through them tomorrow when I get home from work since it is so late and dream alittle more!

Oh by the way the $5.19 Indian Head pennies written on the box were the original content of this box and were collected pre and post depression by my wife's Great Grandmother. She also hoarded these quarters you see in the box now. I asked my mother-in-law about them and she said "Ya, Grandma collected those old pennies and had 4 complete books filled and a bunch of loose ones". I inquired where they were now and she said "Around 1975, I got tired of having them lying around and took them to a coin shop and sold them for $85 and bought new blinds for the house...not too bad for about $6 worth of pennies". Needless to say I about barfed and the amazing thing is she still thinks it was good deal today! To think there were atleast 4 1877 and 4 09S in that box...kills me now.

And to top that off my wife just told me that when her great grandmother passed away, her mom and grandma went through the house she had lived in for over 60 years and found money stashed everywhere! She said they found a small carry-on suitcase with $10,000 and they took it and bought my wife her first new car with the cash. So I can only imagine it was a bunch of Gold or silver certificates and they used it as every day currency! I told my wife I had heard enough...for one year.

I am just glad I am around now to share with all of you and I am grateful for the nice surprise. Who knows what they have lying around yet to be discovered.

So the ebay stories may be true huh? j/k

That is great man. Wish I could get that lucky. Best I have done was when I was a teenager and my grandmother asked me to help her with this old huge purse. Picked it up and it was HEAVY. Come to find out she had $24 in pennies she had saved in it. Except for the later years they were all wheat pennies. Is how I've gotten a few key dates for my whiteman back then. Sadly no 09-s vdb. I still have the purse to this day, along with my old grandfathers wallet with a faded silver cert. in it.

Happy hunting.
