I was talking to my in-laws today and they told me that when my wife graduated from High School, her great-grandmother gave her 15 $10 rolls of "old-style silver quarters". My wife preferred having the cash at the time, so her parents gave her face value for them so she could buy the new Michael Jackson/Donnie Osmond cassettes. They have been in their safety deposit box since 1987. Long story short they know my son and I collect coins so they are going to give them all to us this week! <insert drool> So you can imagine what I am picturing since Great-Grandma was in her 90s at the time and her family worked for the Treasury Department. Maybe BU rolls of 1916 SLs or BU rolls of 32Ds and Ss!?!?! But hey whatever they are, it is a very nice gift and it sure has built up some excitement I wasn't expecting! Wow, that sounds like a great gift, and it will be really exciting to go through! There could be some real gems in there. If there is a whole roll of 1916 SL's maybe you could send one my way!

Simply fantastic. So, if my figuring is correct, that's 600 coins, one of each going to every person posting here and congratulating you. All in all you should still have about 500 left when it's all said and done.

Michael Jackson/Donnie Osmond cassettes? I would have kept the Coins. Hope you find some nice ones. Steve

Nelrak, A friend of mine picked three rolls of BU Washington 47-S and they sold on ebay for over $1500. They were pretty coins, you could see the bright BU coins on each end of the roll. Hope you are in the same league and do well with your upcoming gift. Berry

Sounds great but just don't count your chickens before they hatch.

I would buy a nice album and show them to the rest of the family. Don't be surprised if the rolls are of circulated quarters - I would be happy with any Standing Liberty quarters (I have yet to get one)! What a great hierloom (sure beats Donnie Osmond)!

Ya, I know...I am going to expect the least...circulated 64Ds, which is still really nice for free!
Looks like we are getting her mom's half first. Her dad announced he is seeing another woman so they split the stash. So hopefully he will give us his share.

Sounds like a nice haul, here's hoping they are all BU Standing Liberty quarters. I could use one of those myself, so don't forget about the sale/trade board here if you decide to move a few on.
