So I was watching a nice error coin for a week that I had to have for my collection, and put out a bid in the last 4 sec for about twice what it was worth (imo) and got out bid by a newbie. dang. I wouldn't mind paying my high bid but woulda felt bad for any amount over my "price." If the newbie hadn't bid, I woulda got the coin for way less than half of my bid. dang. Oh well at least I'm happy I didn't spend 260 buck on a 130 dollar coin. But say goodbye to a one-of-a-kind coin. Anyone else lose a coin that You had to have to an outrageous bid?

I had one like that last week, I was more curious to see it than anything else. I think it was an 1995 DDO where he said there was 2 liberty's, 2 IGWT and 2 heads. I did take a chance and bid on the 1946 S/D with poor pictures, for .99 I figured if it was not authentic than oh well. I am sure we have bid against each other on some errors, I am always watching the Lincoln wheats. I really want one of the wrong planchet ones.

Ya I picked up my 95 DDO this week as well. I put pics up here https://goccf.com/t/17466

I hate losing a bid by less than a dollar, bad thing about proxy bidding!

Sorry I mistyped, I meant to say it was an 2005 or 2006 DDO. I just got a 1995 a few weeks ago and must have had that in my head.

OP, When you say a newbie outbid you, it's possible the seller was using an alternate account to push up the bid, but got too greedy and exceeded your bid.

I can't count the number of potentially-great coins I've allowed to slip through my fingers, especially before I started sniping.
