First off, I am happy to announce due to my upgrades I am going to put a coin or two up from my Whitman Type Set, on our very own Coin Community Auction rather than eBaying and "keep it in the family". This one is going up in a few hours and will end on Thursday 7/26 so I can mail it on Friday. So check it out if you'd like a nice XF/AU SL Quarter for your collection.
It's added.https://goccf.com/t/17467

Now to the new stuff, my wife and I have had a house for sale for 9 months and it finally closed on Friday, so I was able to get these out of layaway! It's good to have them home:

And lastly my Proof 1873 with Arrows Seated Liberty Quarter. It has some awesome gold and lavender/purplish toning. It is a very pretty coin in hand!

This picture is the reflection of my Swiss Army watch in the foreground on the coin. It was hard holding both the bamboo tongs in one hand and the camera at the right angle to get a focused shot!

I admit the mirrors are not the best for purists but they are still reflective and with only 700 of them made out of a mintage of 471,200, I couldn't really pass it up for $280.

Thanks Gary. It's bedtime for me! I fixed the description of the last picture since you brought up a good question about the red spots...I thought it was obvious

Thanks Bruce, ya I asked a guy what he wanted and he said $280! I asked him if he was sure and he said "I can't go any lower on that one", so I was like Sold! Right place at the right time!

Gary,
The red spots are reflection from the watch hands.

Nelrak, I love the toning on the proof. Are the pics true to it's in hand look? Also, are you sure about the mintages? I thought there were approx 500 w/ arrows and approx. 600 w/out arrows? The only reason I ask is I was recently interested in one and I was wondering if I read the wrong mint stats?
Thanks for sharing, they're all great looking.

Not only that, but w/ Arrows Proofs always trade for a much higher premium than otherwise might be expected for a similar mintage of a different date.

Thanks Benji! I got the mintages from the RedBook, maybe I misread it.

The first obverse picture is looking directly down on it...in hand, it's not as deep of a purple as it appears in the pix, it has more of a reflective silver shine going through the toning. On the reverse the silver shine appears "blackish" under the wings to the bottom of the coin and is all reflective.

I never really looked around for 19th century proofs until Prethen posted his...it's amazing how they are suddenly appearing, kind of like when you buy a car thinking "man, you don't see these everyday" and then you start noticing that your car is all over the place!

Thanks Prethen, that is what I was trying to insinuate. Next time I'll just take of my brown sash, remove my beret, put down my box of cookies and come out and say, "WOW! I think you got one H@lluva steal!"
