I just purchased this coin from Heritage. I just happened across it near the end of the auction. I think I got a pretty good deal considering the scarcity of this DDR. Per Rick Snow, there are only approximately 50 examples known. I think it is graded very generously, but it appears it was Struck Through Grease, particularly on the reverse shield. I don't have it in hand yet, but let me know what you think. Thanks. http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...=26012#Photo

I would think it fair to characterize this purchase as highway robbery.

That is a tough coin to grade, but F-12 does appear to be generous. Maybe VG at best. Nice pickup though of one of the top IHC varieties. I know in the higher grades this variety carries a substantial premium. Snow just sold a 64 BN for $17500

Real nice pickup--I've always looked for these. I suspect some of the lack of rev. detail is due to strike--or a greasy die?

I would grade it VG. But it does look to be Struck Through Grease, so that may affect the details. It looks to me the shield is clearly struck through something. The dies on this variety aren't that bad.
