I am looking at some proof coins graded by ANACS as PR70 DCAM. Would you trust the grade?

I wouldnt touch any of their modern coins. Their modern 70s have little to no premium in the market. PCGS/NGC are the only modern 70s that really matter.

I wouldn't touch anyone's 70, anywhere. There's too much popular misconception that a 70 is something special, reflected in ridiculously-inflated prices, when in fact it's a very reachable standard for modern minting.

I have no interest at all in PR70 coins made specially for collectors.
If the mint can't keep production standards to the highest level, that is the fault of the mint, not us collectors.

The U.S. Coin Digest (Krause Publications) has whole chapter
"Don't be Fooled by High Grade Coins" ch.5),
devoted to to this subject.

I happen to agree with it.

I don't believe there is a coin from earlier than the 1950's that should ever grade MS70 - EVER! More modern stuff may, but I don't buy it nor do I collect it, most of my collected coins are from the 1793 - 1880, I would say nothing in that date is MS70 there are one or two that will come close but not many at all.

If you can buy a 70 cheap enough and have a buyer lined up to pay you twice as much as you paid go for it.

Otherwise you are taking a gamble as others have posted MS / PR 70 coins with photos in the past of coins of visible flaws.

I have purchased 4 modern coins from PCGS and I would have only called 1 of those a ms-70. You have to virtually inspect the coins prior to purchase or you could lose a lot of money.

ANACS is reliable for circulated coins, but the MS grades belong
to PCGS and NCG. Having said that, MS-70 is simply a fairy tale.
I stick to AU grades.
Just as nice for a third of the price, or even less.

Perhaps the only example of a modern coin that would grade PR70 reasonably often would be the
2009 double eagle.

This piece is essentially a piece of numismatic art, where the U.S. Mint did try hard to achieve the best that they could. The premiums originally paid (in part) explain this.

I would be perfectly happy with a PR69, (if I wanted one), and I would doubt if there would be any difference in value between a 69 and a 70.
