I mentioned this coin in another thread and needed to start a new thread on it. I mentioned it had curved s on the Mylar flap, but went back to pictures a now think it says curved 5 on the flap. Anyone know about these coins, I've never seen any info on it.

Yep, it is a Fancy 5.

Did you pay $50 for this coin as listed on the flip?

No actually I inherited this coin from a good friend I lost last year. I bet he paid close to that, he was always good at talking one down in price. How did he do, seems he always paid too much for the coins I saw him buy. I've never looked this one up yet. I got a few coins from him after he died. I'd still rather have him around, he was much older than me but a very good budy. Got me started collecting.

I just posted in oih82w8 thread on his 1865 RPD 2¢er, where you posed this question, I too think it's Curved 5 not S just the way the handwriting looks. It is indeed a Fancy 5 variety, the more common of the 1865 dates.

I've seen Curved 5 written on holders in the past.

Yep, Fancy 5 variety, the handwriting of some people (especailly mine) can be almost indecipherable.

Handwriting is decoming a lost art, kinda like remembering phone numbers.
