There is some wear on the rev and also obv in the hair and cheek... My guess is AU

Very nice Weakness in shield is typical for the year. Strong lustre, IMO at least MS62 and maybe a 63. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like the narrow date low 4 variety, like this:
1948-50-Cents

In the wide date high 4, the 4 will touch the line I drew.

Thanks EastVanRob. I'm having trouble finding an example of the "wide date high 4", looking at everything at Heritage (http://coins.ha.com/c/search-result...48+50+cent). It would be nice to see them side by side.

Having browsed most of the HA examples, it's interesting that even many specimen strikes have the "worn" shield. This one for example http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...&lotNo=23447
