I'm considering buying (or investing, or wasting my money) on an Adams Dollar "Error" coin. With so many mistakes to choose from, what would you veterans do?
Choices included, and are not limited to, edge inverted lettering, missing letters, overlapped type, smooth edge, Adams spelled with a "Z", it gives you a shock when touched, cursed by the devil... oops, that's my hard drive.
Anyway, without spending gazillions, any suggestions?

Consider Buying? Don't
Investing? God invented Gold for a reason.
Wasting Money? You betcha!

There are so many "errors" because everyone is trying to sell even the slightest impurity in the making of a coin. There are just soooo many different flaws with the prez dollars that IMHO it's not even worth the trouble.

I wouldn't mind a "godless" dollar but only if I had to pay no more then 5$ for it. there might be a premium in 20+ years but it's more of an over hyped curiosity as of now.

"inverted" edge lettering is not an error. They are worth $1. Missing letters - on the design? Not an error, worth $1. Adams spelled with a Z ? They are all made from the same design. Misspelled words would be impossible...Not an error, worth $1.

All the rest that really are errors? Overpriced.

You can always take a couple hundred bucks to the bank, exchange it, and search for your own?!? I found a couple severed head washingtons that way, as well as some starburst .... nothing crazy. I wouldn't buy any above face value either, unless it was a "godless" for $5 as grace said above.

The only one I'm interested in, but am unwilling to pay for, is the Adams double stamped coins with the double stamp being exactly next to each other so it shows as: IINN GGOODD WWEE TTRRUUSSTT etc. I think that is the coolest looking thing I have ever seen. I have a thread on here about these coins, and whether they will ever be worth much, but regardless, I think it is really cool. But, at $1,000 a coin right now, it's pretty steep. But, there are only about 1 every few days being sold, so I don't think there are very many of them.
