This is my last purchase. I hope I did a good deal. I paid it about 43$.
When I saw it on ebay I wasn't sure it was a thorn head but this morning when arrived I made these pics that confirms it is a thorn head and seems to be a 1B6.
These are direct links to full size pics

1B6 it is.

This is the most "common" of the Thornheads, but I put that in quotes deliberately as it's hardly common. I'm seeing a good EF or low AU coin here; at $43 you got it under market.
Rest in Peace

Nice score! What's not to love about a VAM that has a nickname...

Yeah, you can tell that you've arrived when they give you an official nickname. Ash Ashmore just completed a full set of Thornheads; I think it's the only one.

Rob Joyce has had a complete set of Thornheads for a long time. Ash Harrison's set is only ahead by a few points at this time. The first one to get the 1B0 will probably lock the position for several years because I have only heard of one of them. If you are not a member of the SSDC and not able to view the registry I would highly recommend joining. There are tons of other sets in the registry that might give you ideas on what is most popular among VAM collectors. It gives Census of all VAMs uploaded. It is well worth the yearly dues, which I think I need to pay again soon. This link tells where to pay the dues but if you have never paid before you should send a message to John B. (messydesk) on VAMworld and let him know you want to join. http://www.vamworld.com/share/view/...yId=63779214

I stand corrected, and it would figure Rob is the other guy with a complete set. He's the man who got me started on 1921's with his original work on them.

I never really think about the PCGS set registry (because I am not part of it) and the 1B0 does not really exist to PCGS because it is not actually even listed by Leroy yet (that I know of) and it is not a Hit List coin because it does not have the Thornhead die gouge. http://www.vamworld.com/1921-S+VAM-...re-Thornhead

The reason it is listed in the SSDC registry is because it is important to people that do collect die states and the 1B0 or 1B Pre Thornhead would be needed to fill a true die progression set. Ashmore's set is a Huge Milestone for the PCGS registry. He has one seriously majestic set of Morgan & Peace dollars that is for sure.

I will try to have a complete set of the 1921 thornhead registry....
I was just joking :-) :-) :-)

It was already hard to find this one...but i'll try to find out some other nice morgan vams.
My last pick was my 2° 1928 p Peace dollar that seems to be cleaned but maybe it is PL.
I will post it in the correct section.

Thanks
Vincenzo

You know, this is not impossible for you, Vincenzo. There are a large number of US coins floating around Europe, and very little competition in terms of people looking for varieties. Keep a close look on the coins you observe, and you will have the chance to see VAMs others are not looking for.
