I got to thinking today, would verdicare work on large verdigris covered objects. Large copper and bronze things tend to get verdigried up when left out in the rain. For example the Statute of Liberty. If BadThad happened to have a few hogsheads of verdicare laying around and he dumped it on Lady Liberty, would she turn back into the beautiful red-brown lady she was in her youth? I can see applications on historical artifacts and the like, if the stuff is strong enough and undiluted.

My experience with Verdi-Care has not been that it "turns" anything back into something. It helps to remove what verd is there, and it creates a barrier for further development. It doesn't really "return" a coin to its pre-verd state.

VerdiCare will not repair corrosion pits caused by the damage that verdigris causes.
It would be a bit like restoring a corroded steel or cast iron surface back to new condition. That can't be done.

VC is mild and not intended for use on heavy verdigris. The best thing to use on outdoor objects is mineral acid. It's cheap and very effective.

It may not bring it back to "like new", but I have seen it restore some luster to an otherwise dull coin.

I routinely take VF to XF coins and put them in acetone. After the first soak they get a mild wipe with a cue tip ( DONT do this to an MS or valuable coin), and almost always I get green residue. I then soak it in a second container with clean acetone, and repeat. Ending up in a third container. Each time I usually get some green residue. Then I apply VC as per the instructions and it "cuts the haze" and really brings out the colors. Sometimes I see even more dirt and residue after application and I repeat the process.

You wouldn't want to mess with on large outdoor objects anyway; that green forms a protective coating which - as a thousand European domes testify - does not worsen over centuries. Why has Liberty not been eaten away yet?
