My brother has a trompe l'oeil painting with a Romanian 20 lei banknote and some Romanian postage stamps.

The stamps are postmarked 5 Jun 916.

The note is an almost perfect reproduction of the reverse of the 20 lei note, either KM20 or KM30.

I say almost perfect because there is one noticeable difference.

On KM20 and KM30 (in the catalogue) the name below the design on the left is Georges Duval.
On the painting that name is Georges Ioanitiu.
The name on the right in the painting matches the catalogue.

It seems unlikely that a painter who could reproduce a note so flawlessly would deliberately change the name unless he was trying to convey a message.
1. Does KM20 or KM30 exist with Georges Ioanitiu instead of Georges Duval ?

2 Does Georges Ioanitiu exist in some other context ?
I've found a book published in 1941 by George Ioanitiu but I don't see any other relevance.

The painting also appears in a photograph, that we've tentatively dated between 1925 and 1932.

Unfortunately I haven't managed to photograph the painting well enough to include here.

3. Do you know of a Romanian painter of trompe l'oeil in the early to mid-20th century ?

Are you sure Ioanitiu wasn't the painter himself?

It's a possibility.
That's why I asked question 3.

Unfortunately, I don't know the names of Romanian painters, but if someone can positively id him as the painter and perhaps show me some other works that would be useful.
